Market stability continued through the holiday week.

November 29, 2022

The holiday week was a positive one for the stock market as optimism grows that the Fed will slow down interest rate hikes in their December meeting. Does this mean the market rally which began in mid-October will continue through the end of the year?

December is traditionally a strong month for the stock market but continued gains will be based upon 3 major data points. Over the next two weeks investors will weigh the results from the jobs report first, then inflation reporting, culminating with the Fed meeting on Dec 14th. If employment slows and inflation cools, the stock market will most likely continue the rally. After this slew of market moving data there won’t be much impactful new data until Jan 6th, when the last jobs report for 2022 will be released. In turn this early December data will likely influence the markets through the holidays and into the new year.
