Over the past two weeks the stock market, along with the world, has been warily watching Russia’s next moves on the border of Ukraine. The stock market and investors dislike geopolitical uncertainty and we’re seeing investors selling their positions and waiting to put new money to work. It’s possible the stock market could rise if war actually begins because the uncertainty of waiting and anticipating will have passed.
Of course, this is not the only thing affecting the market; there are a lot of other influences on the market as well that have pushed the stock market lower since the beginning of the year. I believe this market correction is part of a larger transition from the pandemic years to the post pandemic years. The world has experienced so many changes in the past two years and the stock market climb may be on pause while the world decides how to move forward and into the post-pandemic future.
