September Roundup

October 04, 2021

September was a down month for the stock market, with a decline of 5% and the largest monthly drop since March of 2020. It was the type of drop the market often sees once or twice a year and can lead to some good buying opportunities. This drop is most likely the result of negative news that started coming out in mid-August: surging COVID infection rates, economic supply disruptions, and rising inflation. Basically, we all have pandemic fatigue and are concerned that the personal and economic recovery may take longer.

That’s all the bad news, but the good news is that this negative information is factored into the stock market right now. The stock market may still go lower from here but all we need is a little less bad news, or better yet some good news, to get the market moving upward again.
